Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System

Customer Review: A good blender - but could be better
Summary: 4 Stars

When I first saw the infomercial about magic bullet a couple of years back - I was floored almost the point where I was going to lift the phone and call the 1800 number, but since I was travelling at that time I thought I will wait for some time.

In 2007, I finally did shell out a whopping $60+ for this blender and started using it. To help you decide if you want to buy this blender or not, let me sum it up with a FAQ:

(1) Will this completely replace my $30 basic Oysterizer ? Yes it will

(2) What more do I get compared to a basic Oysterizer ? You get 2 cutting blades - you can use it for dry grinding (like coffee powder, spices ...) and use the cross blades for shakes/smoothies

(3) Can I make smoothies like what they show in the ads ? Yes you can, it does it about 30-45 secs (sorry not 10 secs as they say)

(4) Can I use it make quick pasta sauces.. - light to medium load ? Yes, you definitely can and it will do a good job

(5) What about heavy grinding, like if I grind meat, grind grains with a thick consitency ? When you grind heavy/thick stuff it does complete the job - bu it takes time - about 4-5 mins and you can hear that the motor is crying for help - but it will sustain, so do not worry.

(6) How about cleaning the blender ? It is very easy - much easier than the traditional design

(7) Is'nt it too expensive ($60+), Why cant I go for something like a Bella cucina blender ? - It is very expensive, ideally this product should cost no more than $25, but I can tell you this - it is much better than bella cucina blender

(8) Does the blender have speed control ? It does not have a speed control - it might seem like a surprise to you, but it is ok to not have speed control.

What I would like to improve in this product:
* A more powerful motor - It comes with a powerful motor - but magic bullet should come out with a different model which is suitable for heavy duty kitchen grinding, not just
* Lesser cost - $60 is way too expensive, Price it around $25

Customer Review: A good system for single servings
Summary: 4 Stars

So I blend on a regular basis and until buying this used a full sized blender for my single serving shakes. It worked but it was difficult to clean as part of it needed to be taken completely apart. The magic bullet on the other hand is very easy to use and clean. Shakes are a good even consistency even when I throw in chunks of ice or large pieces of frozen fruit. It also doubles as a way to carry a shake to work or the gym with the set of lids they include. A lot of the negative reviews say this thing is prone to breaking but I have had no issues thus far, with the exception of needing to glue one of the little rubber feet on the bottom back in place.

Customer Review: A great purchase
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm glad I bought the Magic Bullet. It's quick and easy to use and we use it all the time.

Customer Review: A little difficult...
Summary: 2 Stars

This product has one major flaw. Everything is meant to be blended in 10 seconds or less. The unit overheats after one minute. This means that you can't use it after one minute because it automatically shuts down. It says that you can just put in whole items likes fruits etc, but in reality you have to chop them up because you will go over your time limit. It also does not chop up ice very effectively for making smoothies and starts to overheat quickly. I was a little disappointed given the price and all the good reviews.

Customer Review: A must-have appliance for HMR dieters
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm stunned by the negative reviews. I use my magic bullet to make what I call "magic bullet ice cream" with HMR "Vanilla 70" food replacements. It's a much more convenient appliance for mixing diet drinks than a conventional blender, if for no other reason than the fact that you can drink your mix directly from the container you blend it in.

Here's my recipe for diet ice cream:

Put in your magic bullet container:

1. about two inches of crushed ice. it really works best if you have a crushed ice dispenser.
2. fill to the top of the ice with Davinci Sugar-free syrup, flavor of your choice (I like orange to make orange sherbet, but they are mostly all good).
3. add 2 packets of lactose-free "vanilla 70"
4. fill the bullet with about 1/4 cup cold water, just to top it off.
5. blend for about a minute.

It's an awesome summer-time treat for dieters.
