Instead of heading to a local IKEA and grabbing a $15 magnetic knife holder, you should definitely invest $10 more and get a MIU!
I was bouncing in anticipation of receiving it; and it definitely does not disappoint. The bar is very shiny, stainless steel, and super duper stylish & sexy!
The knife block is too bulky and although somewhat compact, it's always in my way in the kitchen. I would never put knives in a drawer, as that is dangerous but can also harbor horrible germs as well. What if I grabbed the wrong drawer and just stuck my hand in? Yikes!
This holder is very very heavy, but very sturdy. I actually placed mine on the side wall, instead of behind the stove, as my prep area is always next to the sink. That being said, the instructions are non-existent, but putting it up is very simple.
I must add that the power of the magnet is totally awesome!!!! It will definitely hold your biggest knives, and taking it off is definitely easy. I just wiggle my way upwards and then pull away towards me. Easy peasy lemon squeezee!!!!
