Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of MIU France Zinc Alloy Connoisseur Corkscrew Wine OpenerCustomer Review: Great opener Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this January 2006, and it's still going strong. We got one in 2003, and it broke for some reason, I can't remember, so I replaced it with this one. It's so easy, it opens and removes the cork in 2 motions that take 3 seconds. Like the one star review, I too have an engineering degree. I'm not sure how that pertains to reviewing a bottle opener, but to each his own!
Customer Review: Great opener, good price Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really good "rabbit" like wine opener. If you've never used one, you'll be impressed the first time you use it. Not only is it faster but it is also more reliable and it's hard to break a cork with such an opener, even an old cork. That's a gift that will keep on being appreciated.
Price is really good and quality is on par. I generally use it once a week and I have no problem with the corkscrew. The screw itself is replaceable and I have yet to use the replacement after several years of use. The foil cutter broke after several months, but that can be easily replaced -- or just use a knife to remove the foil, as it is customary to do.
Customer Review: Great opener, well made Summary: 5 Stars
This opener is extremely well made and works well. I have broken many lesser models and am very happy with finding this gem. I would highly recommend.
Customer Review: Great while it lasted Summary: 2 Stars
This was a wonderful tool for about a year, and I was thrilled that it was so much cheaper than the name brands, but then some part of the internal mechanism broke so now I've just got a neat foil cutter.
Customer Review: I regret this purchase. :( Summary: 1 Stars
I'm very disappointed in this purchase! My parents have a corkscrew that has the same design but obviously by a better manufacturer. Tonight I decided to try to open a bottle of wine with it for the first time and it was AWFUL!! I am going to go back to the old cheap corkscrew I use on camping trips. I had to seriously struggle to get the screw into AND out of the cork. I'm 27 and very active but it was a workout trying to use this thing. I shouldn't have had to struggle nearly as much as I did. I tried another cork right after, and it was just as hard. Granted it was used... however the seller said it was like new. From what I can tell it is just seriously cheap design.
