Customer Review: Pretty, functional, but could be better

I admit I was seduced by the pretty pastel colors when I was shopping for kitchen utensils that were safe for my fancy new cookware, and I am not at all dissatisfied with the product. They stir hot food on the stove, and clean up far better and faster than wooden utensils. They only lose a star on a couple of minor points. The spatula blade slides off the handle sometimes, which is a little annoying, though it's no trouble to just slide it back on. And (this may be a fault of silicone spatulas across the board) I wish the spatulas were a little stiffer so that they could better scrape the bottom of a pot without bending, and that the edges were a touch sharper - they're near useless when making stovetop oatmeal. They do fine for scraping down bowls of batter, but my old rubber spatulas are a little better in that regard with their stiff, thin blades. That said, the silicone spoonula I bought at Target is better about the stiffness and about the sharp edge.
In summary, they're fine for soup and liquids on the stove, they're good with batters and such off the stove, they're easy to clean, and they really are pretty and cheerful. But for chunkier stovetop foods, you might be better served by a sharp-edged spoonula or a good old fashioned wooden spoon.
