Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of One Touch Automatic Jar Opener

Customer Review: Worked great until it broke
Summary: 1 Stars

At first the One Touch Jar Opener worked great opening jars. Then the fourth time I used my One Touch Jar Opener the slidding gears broke. Upon breaking the seal the gear snapped. I am really hoping that I just had one with defective parts and could somehow find replacements for it.

Customer Review: Worked well, then Broke.
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased the onetouch Jar opener on 17 Dec 2007.
My wife loved it.
But it broke two months later after opening only three jars.
The inner jaws (plastic) slipped and broke on a simple 3.5 inch jar..
The warranty was for only one month.
Now I see why.

Customer Review: Works on some jars, not others
Summary: 1 Stars

This jar opener is supposed to open a 4 inch lid, it failed to open one. It did open a 2 inch jar without an issue. Then my wife had trouble opening another jar where the opener came off the jar and continued to run. So far not very impressed.

Customer Review: jar opener
Summary: 5 Stars

Fantastic! I have had no problems with this jar opener and would reccomend it highly! Also, it does not take up the room the large ones do.

Customer Review: mixed feelings
Summary: 3 Stars

1) the battery cover was REALLY poorly designed. it's hard to open the cover and place back. the two AA batteries go in harder than one would expect. one battery comes out easily, but the other one is *really* difficult to remove. this product was meant for people with finger/hand arthritis, exactly the type of people who are going to have trouble with this battery system. it's possible someone will have to change the batteries for the end-user, depending on the finger strength and dexterity of the end-user. wow, not the kind of issue you ever expect when you buy a product in the 21st century...

2) it's fairly (but not very) strong and it opens the majority of jars well, albeit slowly. it's not so strong that it can open jars that an average healthy young person with a decent grip can't. it just slips off. this device is meant for people with *very* weak grips to help them open non-stuck or "kind of stuck" jars, where it could be a big help. it won't help a person too much if they have mild arthritis and are only unable to open the really tough jars.

3) "one touch" is more like a somewhat prolonged push. once you get used to it, no big deal.
