Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of One Touch Automatic Jar Opener

Customer Review: Junk - bought two - broke two
Summary: 1 Stars

As a "Family" Christmas present, we bought the "one Touch Jar Opener" and the "One Touch Can Opener.. We used the jar opener a few times and it worked ok. No Problems.

Then on about the fourth time we used it, the darn thing broke. Parts literally snapped off. Since it was an inexpensive item, rather than go thru the hassle of returning it I just went to Wal-Mart and bought another.

I looked it over, everything seems OK. What do I know, I wasn't in China when it was made. And,this time, I am going to watch it very carefully. I will put it on a jar that should open relatively easy. It buckeled and snapped and a part broke off. Didn't open the jar at all. Didn't even loosed it. So I opened it with my hands. It was stiff, but the whole idea is to have a tool to do those chores for me.

Piece of JUNK

However, the "One Touch Can Opener" has been working faithfully for two years. We use it on a daily basis. During baking season we use it 10-15 times a day and no problem.

Customer Review: Overall good
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this product for my mom. She has some decreased hand strength. She had a really hard time opening the battery compartment and inserting the batteries. Other than that she likes it and finds it very helpful.

Customer Review: Pickle Jars of the World, Beware!
Summary: 5 Stars

After 45 years of relying on my husband to open jars, I am no longer a tight-lid codependent. ONE TOUCH JAR OPENER works on big and wide pickle jars, mid-sized jars of apple sauce, slim jars of salsa, and any other jars I need to open.

Do not be put off by criticism of the opener's "slowness," for its careful operating speed is a safety feature. The cushioned outer jaws clamp slowly and softly onto the jar, so the glass is in no danger of breaking. The similarly cushioned inner jaws likewise clamp gently onto the lid, leaving it free of dents or bends, and thus usable for recapping the opened jar.

For less than $20, treat yourself to this enabling device. And if you have any senior and/or manually challenged friends or relatives, enable them, too.

Customer Review: Poor design
Summary: 1 Stars

One Touch Jar OpenerGot this product as a Christmas gift. Thought it would be helpful since I have arthritis. I used it around six times before the sliding gears broke. Poor design for the part of the appliance that has the most stress. Would not recommend this product.

Customer Review: Poorley Made
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had 2 of these since Christmas (5 months). They are slow but opened most jars. However when they tried to open one that was a bit hard, slipped and broke.
