Customer Review: Bad Photo of a GREAT CHAIR - a design classic

They are named the "telescoping chair" because the back legs are double tubes that telescope up about an extra 1/3 longer in length, causing the seat and front legs to collapse back between them, folding very flat.
These poor photos make them look like a budget or low-quality chair, which they are not. I own 4, and have had them for several years. They still look brand new and receive regular complements. In fact, they are placed around a table beneath a Swarovski crystal chandelier (true story).
You get the first hint of their high quality construction when you lift one for the first time and realize they weigh about three times more than you are expecting. The acrylic slabs used for the seat and back are more than 1/4" thick, and all the metal components are chromed. There is remarkable attention to detail. No off the shelf parts here, everything is machine tooled with a lot of careful thought and precision fitting.
I'm an old school Bauhaus aficionado (Over the years I have, in fact, studied design from two different students of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, but I digress). My sense of quality construction is from the likes of Knoll.
I consider these telescoping acrylic chairs to be far under-recognized, future classics.
