Don't worry about storing eating utensils on the finished wood. The tray's smooth, beechwood finish is approved safe by the FDA. To best care for the product, store it in a well ventilated spot, away from heat and sunlight, since extreme changes in temperature will affect the beechwood. Soaking the tray will also warp the wood, so never wash it in the dishwasher and always dry it thoroughly after wiping it clean with mild soap and water.
