Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge Paperback LED BooklightCustomer Review: Marriage saver Summary: 5 Stars
I like to read in bed at night but my wife likes to have the bedroom completely dark when she is trying to sleep.
The light wedge gives just enough light to enable me to read without disturbing her sleep. The size is perfect and covers the entire page of a standard paperback.
This little gem just may have saved my marriage.
Customer Review: Migraine suffers beware Summary: 3 Stars
While this product is great for lighting the page, I had to pass the one I purchased on to my daughter. Using this light actually triggered migraines, so while the product itself is a good product, I found I was unable to use it.
Customer Review: Misleading Ads and Pictures Summary: 1 Stars
Pictures of this item show a clear, well and evenly lighted page - the reality is quite different.
As others have mentioned, the "Optical Quality" plastic is filled with dark curves which if you don't hold the light just right, make the page unreadable.
This light also leaves much of the page too dark to read, especially towards the middle of the page.
This might make for a good novelty item if it was priced about half as much as it is.
I'm going back to using an LED flashlight for night reading.
Customer Review: NOT ACCEPTABLE Summary: 1 Stars
The light on the page looks NOTHING like it does in the photo of the product. The light is very dim and uneven. It's the unevenness that makes the page hard to read. It makes it very difficult to scan your eyes across the page to read more than a couple of words at a time. So if you're reading anything technical, you can't see an entire mathematical equation or a line of computer code all at once.
The problem might easily be solved by the company inserting a few more LEDs in the product to fill in the dark spots. But they haven't addressed this for many years and don't seem likely to.
I bought a better book light that has a fluorescent bulb. It works beautifully and illuminates the page very evenly so that I can see the whole page at a glance.
Customer Review: Nice concept, bad design Summary: 1 Stars
Being an obsessive bedtime book reader, I can't live without a good book light (or I'd have to live without my husband). After my last one died, I thought I'd give this one a try. It sounds cool and you never have to replace the bulbs. The first mark against it was the horrible wavy lines that it splashed across my pages. Next mark off was the fact that it didn't stay balanced on the top of the page, even with the page topper inserted. I found having to lift it at every page turn something I just couldn't be ok with. The last straw was that after only 3 weeks of use, it started to intermittently flash on and off, depending on how it was being held or moved. Some defect in the way the batteries connect. The battery compartment is curved and therefore makes for and unusual non-flat placement of the batteries. No wonder.Unfixable. Don't waste your time or money.
