Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge Paperback LED BooklightCustomer Review: Don't Buy this book light Summary: 1 Stars
This is a poorly designed product. As other reviewers have noted, the light is "wavy" and thus distracting. Also the light is NOT very bright. Even in a pitch dark room the light is not really bright enough for reading. Turning the pages and re-positioning the light makes for a cumbersome process. Reading is supposed to be an enjoyable activity. LightWedge turns it into a chore. Save your money.
Customer Review: Enough Waves to Make You Seasick! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this for my father's birthday and gave it to him a couple days ago. What a disappointment! I put Duracell batteries in this and was all exited to see him use it since he reads constantly. I nearly cried when I saw the waves of light going across the page of his book. The light was uneven and made the plastic look like it was badly rippled. We put different batteries in and the exact same result. Shadows and ripples across the page that made it unreadable. I was so excited to find a such a perfect gift for his birthday and now I feel lousy for giving him such a piece of junk. He thanked me and put it up on a shelf. I'm certain he will never use it. I know I wouldn't!
I wish I had the foresight to take a photo of my LightWedge in action so everyone can see the bad performance of this thing. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews and not wasted my money.
Customer Review: Excellent booklight system Summary: 4 Stars
This is one of the best book lights I've owned. Easy to use and long-lasting. By only quibbles are that you really do need to buy the larger one for hardcovers and the smaller one for paperbacks. Also, some people are annoyed by the interference pattern produced by the LED' (I'm Ok with it)
Customer Review: Good but cumbersome to turn pages Summary: 4 Stars
I love this product but have not figured out a good way to turn the page without taking out the light wedge. If someone has a solution, let me know
Customer Review: Good enough to seriously consider Summary: 4 Stars
This is a pretty good product, but buying the paperback size and using it for larger books can be a bit annoying. Other bothersome things:
* The LEDs produce an interference pattern on the page if the light rests on the book directly. This is avoided by letting it sit just above the page.
* The plexiglass scratches very easily. The lens care kit and the soft case are necessities.
* The light is a little dim, but it is softer on the eyes than other book lights.
* Turning pages becomes a bit of an exercise, but you get used to it somewhat quickly.
Overall, its a good light that I would recommend - with accessories. The fact that you only need to change batteries and not lights is an added bonus.
