Customer Review: BEST for reading at night, no question about it!

THis lightwedge is fantastic. It provides a great source of light that is focused on your book, not on the person next to you. The light comes from the black handle, but because of the "wedge" shape of the glass, it is focused down the glass and onto your book. You can even take that focused beam and use it as an impromtu flashlight.
This thing uses hardly any batteries at all, unlike the other popular reading lights. I very rarely have to change the batteries and I use this all the time, for hours every night! I've even fallen asleep with it on overnight, with no noticable decrease in battery life. Because the battery life is so good, I've even let my son read in bed for awhile and then just set it down and use it as a nightlight for the rest of the night.
It is true that if you're like I am (rough with it) it will get scratches on the lens. Not a big deal though, when it's on the book, you won't notice the scraches. Much like small scratches on eyeglasses.
I like the larger size because you can use that with large books or with paperbacks with equal ease. The paperback one doesn't work as well with the hardcover books, but it's okay.
The lightwedge also doubles as a bookmark when not in use!
You won't be disappointed if you buy this. I wasn't. I'm actually buying two more for friends as Christmas gifts!

We order 2 of these for Christmas presents. One had a non working switch and would never turn off without removing the battery. The other had scrathes in the glass. Both needed to be returned. First returns I have ever needed to do with Amazon.

I rate this product a 4 for two reasons. It is prone to scratching and the over the counter price of $35.00. I bought mine, a "Harry Potter" model, through Amazon for $8.95 solving the second problem. I use a micro fiber cloth, the same one I use to on my glasses, to clean it solving the first problem. Most book lights are awkward and after a few uses, I've given up the idea of reading at night in a dark room. This is the best design I've seen. The light is on the page. I think they could possibly improve the distribution of light on the page, but I imagine that would jack the price up to allow for a more sophisticated lighting method. This book light is like no other.
When I was doing my Christmas shopping I wanted to get a book light for my dad. He needs good light or he can't see the words. This light provides a nice even light across the whole page. You don't get those annoying shadows that you do with other lights. I like that it doubles as a book marker as well. Haven't had it long enough to tell you how the battery life is but they are LED's so it should last a long time.
