Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge Original Book LightCustomer Review: It's possible it could work Summary: 2 Stars
It doesn't work for me.
The continual search for the right Book light has once again ended in failure. It is so sad.
It's exactly like the surfboard I abandoned on Maui.
It spent too much time hitting me in the head to live.
Customer Review: Lightwedge Summary: 1 Stars
I'm very disappointed. First of all getting the batteries in was a major undertaking. The light is very low and doesn't light the whole page (paperback book). When the plastic is laying on the page, there's a weird wave-like pattern on the page. I had to hold the lightwedge above the page to read it. I had to use a knife to pry the batteries out so I could box it back up to return to the store.
Customer Review: Night Reading Made Reasonable Summary: 4 Stars
I love being able to read in bed, but had a hard time finding a workable light source that didn't keep my husband up. The LightWedge turned out to be a very nice solution. It's a sheet of glass, lit from one side) that rests on top of the page you're reading. It takes AAA batteries and I was amazed at how long they've lasted. I've owned the LightWedge for 2 years and only changed the batteries once or twice.
You have to take care of your LightWedge as the surface is scratchable (though not terribly distorting when it is scratched) and it's a little tricky choosing a size. I have the hardcover book sized one, so it's a little awkward for smaller paperbacks.
Great for travel too!
Customer Review: This light is downright awful Summary: 2 Stars
I wish I got one of those with DIM light, mine I could probably do surgery with if I aimed the edge of the plastic at the surgery site. On the flat surface, the lite is wavy with light and dark areas. They need the light spread equally across the surface IMHO but, the light coming of the edge is blinding.
Moving the thing to turn every page, is cumbersome and awkward too, the edges of the light don't grasp any part of the book so it is always slipping around and off the pages and that again shines in my husbands eyes. They had some sort of plastic ridge you snap in to the top or bottom that was supposed to help but it useless too.
Add this to a the problem of having to remove the light to turn a page and at that time the edges shine into my husbands eyes and wake him up.
Or I have to turn off the light, fumble around to turn the page then turn it back on.
I am looking for different type of light and then I will retire this as an emergeny flashlight because it is brighter than the halogen ones I have now. The only advantage I can see to this light is that it was a gift and didn't cost me any money. I certainly won't tell the giver what a bad gift this was, don't want to hurt any feelings. Hopefully they will read the reviews before they send someone else this light.
Customer Review: Very low light output Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for an elderly coworker, and it looks nothing like the pictures when it's turned on. We went into a dark room and tried it out, and i found the low amount of light extremely disappointing. I though maybe there were multiple settings but there weren't. i couldn't recommend this product to anyone. of course it doesn't bother other people when you use it, you can barely see the light!
