Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge NightVision LED BooklightCustomer Review: Red LED light may not be bright enough for you. Summary: 4 Stars
This device may not be bright enough for you if you read older paperbacks. It all depends on the size of the print and how yellow the page is. It's no problem if you read hardbacks.
Another thing to know is when the light lays next to the page, it greys out the view a bit. It's like you can see the back of the page and the letters bleed through. This is easily fixed by keeping the light raised slightly above the page. However it can be awkward to hold the rather bulky booklight slightly above the page with a finger, especially if it's an easy read and you're flipping pages. It can take some dexterity to use this. I have a couple of clear bumps that are used in cabinets to keep them from slamming. A couple of those could do the trick.
There are two settings on the light, probably bright enough and not bright enough. There are two LED lights inside and it would have been better to have three. I slightly increased the light output by lining the edge with tin-foil and clear tape. A clear light might be more effective than red.
The last thing to know it that the surface will scratch and even new there were a few minor imperfections in the plastic glass.
Overall though, it is a very good product. I'm glad it uses regular inexpensive AA batteries. I wish it had a soft cloth cover or plastic cover to protect it. I give it 4 stars but it should probably be 5 because in spite of the minor drawbacks, I haven't found a better booklight.
Customer Review: Red light a winner Summary: 5 Stars
This was worth every cent! I didn't really understand how the LightWedge worked until I used it at home. But it is very easy to get used to navigating and the NightVision Red LED light is so comfortable on my eyes. Other reviewers commented that this scratched easy but so far no scratches. Don't let the price scare you but do protect your purchase and get the soft case.
Customer Review: To dim to read by Summary: 2 Stars
We really enjoyed the original LightWedge and were buying a 2nd one. I picked the red, NightVision LightWedge LightWedge NightVision LED Booklight with the idea that it would be less obtrusive to my wife when she was trying to fall asleep. That worked as planned, but unfortunately it is also too dim for me to read by comfortably. It might work for reference material if night vision were important, but not for reading a story or similar text. I will buy a 2nd, original LightWedge LightWedge Original Book Light (Black). It isn't too obtrusive and is easy to read by.

Customer Review: Very Cool Product Summary: 4 Stars
That sums up my reaction and the reaction when others see me whip out my lightWedge. I actually bought the one I'm reviewing for an astronomer friend of mine who seems to love it. I bought my first one two years ago, its the one for paperback books, and it is one of the most useful gadgets I've purchased in a long time. It simply works, the batteries last a long time, and most importand of all - my wife and I can remain married even though I need to wake up and read in the middle of the night sometimes, and she's a light sleeper. All of the LightWedges are great products and I would highly recommend them. Why only four stars? I wish I could get red in any LightWedge size instead of just the one.

This works great. I really like it. I purchased the soft cover to store it in to prevent scratching.
