Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of the Lifetime 1044 Quick Adjust Conversion Kit -- Pole Not IncludedCustomer Review: Perfect for mounting backboard over garage... Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered a Lifetime 79910 Competition Series Basketball Backboard and Rim Combo with 50 Inch Shatter Guard Backboard along with a LIFETIME PRODUCTS #1044 ADJ Pole Conversion Kit to mount over my garage. The widest part of my driveway is in front of the garage and I really didn't want a permanent pole or a weighted base to have to mow around so a wall mount was the perfect solution for me. The mount and backboard was easy enough to put together and was much more sturdy than I thought it would be. After reading another online review I went ahead and added a couple of additional washers to the pivot bolts (see my pictures I added above) so that the backboard wouldn't swing from side-to-side too much. The installation instructions advised not to mount the backboard to a brick wall such that the weight of the backboard rested solely on the bricks because they might not be able to handle the weight and stress of a basketball backboard so I drilled the four holes using a foot-long 3/8" masonry drill bit all the way through the brick wall to the inside of my garage and used 12" threaded rods, washers and nuts to sandwich the wall. It is not coming down. I hung on the rim a few times to make sure. I am really pleased with the results and would buy this combo again.
