Customer Review: Warning! Not real Laguiloe that you know and love!

I knew better than to order a set at this price, but hey... you never know. Now I do. I thought perhaps the first price was reflective of the sets quality--boy was I wrong. This set would never sell for 60 some dollars. Although the knives are useable (hence the 2 stars) they are NOT of good quality. The box is very flimsy and I wouldn't give this as a gift. If you want a knock-off go to TJMaxx or someplace and see these kind of knives for yourself before you buy. I'm going to save for some real Laguiole knives!
Description of Sabatier Laguiole 6-Piece Steak Knife Set, Rosewood and Stainless Steel
This 6-pc. stainless steel steak knife set has been handcrafted by master knife makers at the famed Forge de Laguiole in France. The stunning set features gently curved stainless steel blades and polished rosewood pistol-grip handles. Set into the handle's bolster is a small metal bee, based on the Imperial emblem of Napoleon the 1st. The historical collection comes in an elegant gift box, ready for giving. Imported. 9/10Hx4-4/5Wx10-9/10L".Inspired by a celebrated French design, the six 4-1/2 inch knives in this set cut steaks, chops, and roasts into bite-size pieces while imparting a hint of ornate chateau manners and crystal chandeliers. The knives have stainless-steel blades and accents on their rosewood handles. Their design was inspired by the celebrated Laguiole knife, which originated in 1829 in a French mountain village of the same name. Farmers folded the knives into their pockets. Today, Laguiole knives are made in Thiers, the French cutlery center, according to the original design. Elongated pistol-grip handles are secured by three rivets and decorated with a tiny stainless-steel bee, homage to the bee on Napoleon I's Imperial emblem. The blades' fine serrations tend to tear rather than slice precisely through steak fibers. The knives come in a wood tray for safe storage on the counter or in a drawer. --Fred Brack
