Bought this machine being somewhat reluctant over all the reports on the rest of the ice makers. All I wanted was some good Gelato coming out of it. I gave it a try and voila!!! Gelato came out of it as promised. Made Watermelon, Strawberry, Mint and Vanilla Gelato, all came out perfect! It was like when I lived in Italy!
Recommended to all Gelato/Ice Cream lovers.

I've had my machine over a year now and used it endlessly last summer, as many as 2-3 batches per day (I was testing recipes for my catering business).
It's been a trooper. I agree with one reviewer that a stainless bucket would be nice, but overall I can't complain.
It's worked well with all recipes I've tried, even when I tested it with room temperature mix..still froze the mix well.
The add-ins slot is too small, as well. Aside from the two minor imperfections, this machine has served me well.

I purchased this ice cream maker because I did not want to deal with the other types of makers that either require ice and salt (too messy) or the types which you have to put a bowl into the freezer (takes up too much freezer space and they don't freeze the ice cream well).
The machine is well built and is easy to operate. The instruction manual contains many different frozen dessert and drink recipes. The only issue i have is with the "add in" slot where mix-ins are put. It is rather small, but I was able to work around this problem by setting the timer to go off before the ice cream was fully frozen, taking off the top, and adding the mix-ins.
After trying the ice cream maker, I was very impressed with the quality of the ice cream that was produced and at the speed at which the ice cream froze. It is also very quiet when in operation. Even though it only makes one quart of ice cream, multiple batches can be made one right after the other.
I enthusiastically recommend this ice cream maker.

I put it in the laundry room so it wouldn't be too loud, then when I finally turned it on the first time, I realized it was quieter than a normal microwave. Wow.
Incredible simple to use, almost elegantly simple. Power switch, timer, and start button. That's it.
I opened up the box, read the instructions in about 2 minutes, washed the bowl and lid, then dumped in some ingredients and was eating frozen ice cream about 30 minutes later. Amazing. I made 4 different kinds of ice cream in the first 2.5 hours of owning the machine. Coffee ice cream (decaf coffee! Cool - you get to control the ingredients) was made by tossing a couple of tablespoons of instant decalf into hot cream, then adding some sugar and pouring it into the bowl. Again, 30 minutes later we had frozen coffee ice cream. I'm not disappointed at all. It makes over a pint, easily. If you're a family without kids, that's all the capacity you'll need unless you're making batches for a party. If you want it frozen hard (rather than the "a bit harder than soft-serve" texture that the machine makes in 30 minutes, you can throw it in the freezer for a bit.
Quite heavy, but you're not really going to moving it around much, are you? I can't imagine what the bigger machine must weigh. I haven't owned this ice cream maker for long, but at this point I highly recommend it!

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes shortly after purchasing this item. I was thrilled to find out that the custard ice cream recipes are high in protien and could be made with Splenda! (although the substitution makes the ice cream freeze harder) I have experimented with a variety of recipes and indulged my sweet tooth that way! Our first machine we received was damaged in shipping, Amazon had a new machince out to us by FedEx within 2 days, and provided free shipping back for the damaged item. We were very pleased with the service. This machine is quiet, easy to use, and a MUCH better investment than one of the cheaper varieties...you'll get your money's worth and never go back to store-bought junk. :)
