Customer Review: Shoddy product, non-existent customer service

Unit arrived broken (you could hear the screws rattling around on the inside). Took several days, several e-mails and several phone calls to actually get to someone from Lello customer service. They said send the broken part to them (which I did, at a cost of $15.00) and they would ship another one right out. Three weeks passed ... another round of calls to Lello (most of which go through to an answering machine). They said that they were out of stock and would send me another part when they arrived from Italy in a month. Eight weeks later, no part, no answer from Lello. I wouldn't ever buy one of their products again. This one is going back to Amazon. It might be great if it works, but who can tell if it's broken upon arrival and you can't get it fixed?
Description of Lello 4070 Gelato Junior
With a minimum freezing temperature of -4 degrees F, the Simac Gelato Junior takes only about 30 minutes to satisfy your craving for a frozen confection. Plus, the built-in compressor freezer operates continuously, so you can turn out multiple flavors of ice cream while your guests finish their dinner. A 60-minute electronic timer frees you up for other activities, and an automatic safety mechanism sounds a warning beep if the integrated spatula blade gets stuck. A removable 1-quart bowl, transparent lid, and slim ingredient window all simplify operation, and the unit is also useful for crafting frozen drinks and chilled soups. Though not lightweight at 31 pounds, the Gelato Junior is fairly sleek for its class, measuring 11 by 14 by 12-1/4 inches.
