Customer Review: Among my favorite kitchen tools

I bought one some years ago, back when they came without the finger guard, and I use it often. Only one thickness of slice, and there are some things it can't handle -- I have heard claims that it will slice salami, and perhaps it might when brand new given the right salami, but not for me -- but for most vegetables it works superbly. Mine is perhaps getting faintly dull after years of use, and one has to be careful of fingertips (I can't say how much a nuisance the finger guard is), but the slices are thin and not hard to keep even. I give these as presents to valued friends who like to cook. If the multiple-thickness model works as well it might replace this one in my esteem, but for slices about as thick as those of sushi ginger one can't go wrong with this.
