Customer Review: Great peeler with fatal flaw

We've had one of these peelers for over a year, and it's the best peeler we've ever owned.
EXCEPT...
The two little black plastic pins that hold the blade into the handle are the Achilles heel of this product. One is smaller than the other and it recently broke. I've heard this same problem from other owners of this product.
I'm waiting for a response from Kyocera as to whether this is covered under their 5 year warranty. But frankly, something like this shouldn't be happening, and it's a serious design flaw on an otherwise outstanding product.

Update to the previous review. I finally (things were kind of busy for them the Monday after Thanksgiving!) got a call back from Kyocera, they took my name and address, and immediately sent me a replacement for the broken part. The replacement arrived today, UPS 2 day delivery! I was very impressed with the speed and responsiveness of their customer service. It definitely makes a difference in whether I deal with a company in the future.
Based on this, I'd like to change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars, but it doesn't seem to want to let me do that.

I can't praise this product enough, as it is hands-down the sharpest and most convenient peeler I've ever owned. I was surprised that some reviewers felt that this wasn't the sharpest blade around. I've never used or seen anything remotely close to it.
I vaguely remember a reviewer saying that theirs broke, but didn't give it another thought until last night when mine broke too. I just called Kyocera, all it took was a quick internet search to find info about their 5 year warranty. Within three minutes they had taken my address to ship a new peeler......and never even asked me to prove my purchase. When I commented on that, the rep said "we trust you". So my replacement is to arrive later this week. Wow.
If it breaks once in a while, but Kyocera will replace it so easily, I'll keep on reaping praise.

I received one of these peelers from my mom as a gift and when my daughter was helping me peel carrots, she accidentally broke it! Ah! I was so bummed. I immediately went online to Amazon and purchased TWO so I would never be without my favorite kitchen tool. :) It is very sharp, the head is adjustable (so it works if you are right or left-handed) and it can zip through peeling a potato (my LEAST favorite job) in no time. Have you ever wished you could peel a potato like they do on these reality cooking shows on television? Well I did, and now I know the great world these chefs live in, pertaining to potato peeling. This peeler glides through, even the toughest, skin of the potato either pulling the peeler towards you or left or right hand peeling. This thing is great, I have wanted a better peeler, in view of the fact my peeler is old and dull. Well I bought the best darned vegetable peeler I could ever imagine. I find myself trying to create situations where I need to use my Kyocera kitchen tools and knives preparing foods.
I not only recommend this ceramic peeler I also recommend all my Kyocera knives, guillotines, and peelers.
The prices are a little high but you definitely get what you pay for.

I have had my peeler for about a year now...I love it. You need to use little to no pressure when peeling anything it's so sharp! Works great for making Parmesan cheese strips and chocolate ribbons.
It's a great gift for any foodie on your holiday list.
PS: and...NO RUST!
