I used the Sweater Stone on one of my favorite navy blue sweaters that was starting to pill and fuzz up a bit. After using the stone my sweater was noticeably thinner in some areas. It was not threadbare, but you could definitely see more light through the portions I used the stone on.
Personally I've had a lot better luck with the electric shavers designed for this purpose. They are less aggressive than the Sweater Stone on delicate wools, and seem to work perfectly.

I was pleasantly surprised at how effective this product is. It takes some dilligence, but I have saved several sweaters that I thought were hopelessly pilled and worn looking.
