Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of 6640-022 Table Top Blender, Oster 6640, 10 spd White

Customer Review: CRUSHES ICE FAST!
Summary: 5 Stars

I WAS AMAZED HOW QUICKLY IT CRUSHED ICE! NO PROBLEMS TO REPORT SO FAR, I'VE ONLY HAD IT ABOUT A MONTH. HOPE IT LASTS FOREVER.

Customer Review: Can't even blend pie filling
Summary: 2 Stars

This product will crush ice but for softer items (namely, pie filling) it doesn't blend or mix or anything. Would NOT recommend.

Customer Review: Dead Blender
Summary: 1 Stars

I used this blender exactly TWICE. The third time it failed to start. I tried different outlets, looked for a reset button, etc. No go. Dead blender.

Customer Review: Decent
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had this blender for 10 years and it's still working. It's been used very lightly and infrequently. Sometimes it leaks, even if I have the bottom screwed on really tight and the seal is in the correct position. I don't like the fact that it never really locks into place on the base, seems kind of like there is no right way to get it on there. I've mainly used it for smoothies, and it does a decent job on ice if you leave the smoothie in there for a long time. Otherwise you get lots of little ice chunks that you have to chew with your teeth in your smoothie. The other day I tried to use it for applesauce and I was less than impressed. The jar was full, but it wasn't really "blending", i.e. pulling the stuff from the top to the bottom and so forth. I ended up with tons of cinnamon on the top and none on the bottom. I used it once for salsa. It did a decent job of chopping everything up really fine. I hate that the jar is plastic, but it hasn't cracked on me yet and it's even been dropped from the top shelf of the cupboard several times, so I guess it's durable. The seal is still in great shape. The motor seems to be holding up under light use.

Next time I'll buy a blender with a glass jar, that screws onto the base in a definite way. This one is worth the $30 I paid for it 10 years ago. I don't know how it would hold up to daily use, as I use it about once a month.

Customer Review: Don't buy it!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Actually, I just yanked this out of the bottom cupboard to try it again, a gift last year. What a piece of trash! This blender is so awful, the motor is terribly loud and the unit itself leaks when you put liquid in it! Well, what is a blender for? Hello! I had the best Hamilton Beach blender and got rid of it because it was so old and discolored. Guess I'll be tossing this and trying something else! Oster--this is junk! :)
