Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Jack LaLanne JLPJB Power Juicer Juicing Machine

Customer Review: Complete waste of money.
Summary: 1 Stars

I mentioned this juicer briefly in a review of the L'Equip 215 XL. Sorry, Jack, this one is not worth jack. See how the ejection chute has no tunnel angled downward to drop high-velocity juice into your glass? The basket spins at how-many RPM, and this hole is the only thing between 200 mile-per-hour juice mist and your white t-shirt. I guarantee your arms are not long enough to operate this juicer. I only gave this juicer a star because there is no lower rating. What's worse, I bought it on impulse in a local store for 99 bucks! Lesson learned - gave this juicer away after a week or two.

Customer Review: Customer Beware.....please read my experience with Jack LaLanne product....

Amazon why are you carrying this product? I notice that you no longer carry the Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender that I purchased thru you 18 months ago. So here's the scoop, 18 months ago I purchased Jack Lanne's Health Master 100 Blender. I've enjoyed and benefited from the protein shakes - at least 4/5 times a week - just as one will enjoy and benefit from the juicer drinks. However, about 2 weeks ago the blade inside the two-liter pitcher froze. It does not move. Thus the product is totally unusable. And, I'm totally dead-in-the-water. I've called the
Jack LaLanne telephone number on the back of the Owner's Manual 3 times. They refuse to help me. They tell me the "shipper" is the only one who could/should help me. The shipper, Firefly Buys, tells me that's crazy (after 3/4 emails) and they're "really sorry but they can't help and that I have to address the problem with the manufacturer, and that, of course, would be the Jack LaLanne company". So, I think you see what's happening here! Plus, Amazon tells me they cannot help.
I have consistently explained that, after 18 months, I DO NOT expect something for nothing. I ask, please tell me where the pitcher can be repaired and I am happy to pay for the shipping plus the repair. OR, where I can purchase a replacement pitcher and I am happy to do so!!! I am not expecting that after 18 months usage, plus knowing that the 60 day Jack LaLanne Warranty has expired, that I am entitled to a "free anything". However, I am adamant that products sold in the USA should have a life longer than 18 months. So, if manufacturers and/or the companies distributing their products are not willing to go to bat for the consumer who, by the way, paid $162.95 for the Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender, than is it to follow that we will soon become a total dumping ground for all the products that last less than 18 months and must be disposed of because there's no repair/replace remedy?
I would definitely not recommend purchasing a Jack LaLanne product.

Customer Review: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUICER !!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Four hours after I bought this Juicer from Target, it burn't out while I was blending blueberries. It is cheap and contains alot of plastic parts. So I took it back and bought a Hamilton Beach Juicer from Wal-Mart - this juicer was Not Only more powerful and is made of stronger materials but only cost me $60 dollars, so it saved me money too. Check out this blender. Hamilton really knew what they were doing when they made there blender. The Jack La Lane one is all Hype don't believe the advertisements....

Customer Review: Decent Juicer
Summary: 2 Stars

I had this juicer for around two years, and it just broke. I am not writing this review to bash it for this reason. But rather to tell my experiences and impressions of the machine for the time I had it. With that said, this was also my first juicer so I have nothing else to compare it to.

Initial Impression: The first time I used it, the motor was quiet. However, after several more uses, it seemed to get louder. Much louder than I expected. The "Whisper Quiet" really threw me off. You usually have to speak at the top of your voice if someone tries speaking to you while you're juicing (no joke). When you watch the infomercial, all you're hearing is the juicer through lav microphones. So it really does seem quiet because it doesn't pick up the authentic noise of the machine. If they actually put a handheld up to it, the machine would be quite loud (especially while juicing). The cleanup of this machine was more than I expected as well. Again, the infomercial stretches the truth. It just shows them rinsing it under a faucet. In reality, there are a ton of tight areas where fruit/vegetable remnants get stuck and are difficult to remove (The accessory brush may help, but I never bought it). However, it always did a good job of making juice so I was overall satisfied.

Continued use: The motor definitely seems to weardown the more it's used. At first, it had no problem with any item. But, thicker objects like carrots and certain apples started to have trouble going through after a while. The juicer would jam and make extremely loud noises. In order for it to actually juice them, you'd have to turn it off and clean out the filter several times over. And that's just for one cup of juice. (Softer items like grapes and strawberries had no trouble). But again, as long as I ended up with juice at the end of the process, I was happy.

Finale: The other day, after juicing, I went to clean it. So I removed the blade from the machine and the plastic threaded piece that you screw and tighten the blade onto broke off.

Final Thoughts: I used this juicer almost everyday for the past two years. Although that may be a long time for a cheap As Seen on TV appliance, I was still a bit disappointed. I expected much more being that La Lanne was willing to put his name on it. This item would be good as a first juicer or maybe even for the occasional juicer. Using it daily? Get something better. The company offers a lifetime warranty on the motor. They can do that because the rest of the machine is made of plastic, which will surely go before the motor.

Verdict: 2.5 stars out of *****.

I just ordered a Breville 800JEXL, so I will write a review on that later in time.

Customer Review: Decent juicer
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used only one other juicer (at work) which costs twice what the JL juicer does. It had a fairly small capacity, though and we were constantly having to empty it. Now that I use the LaLanne juicer, I realize how wet the pulp is which means inefficient extraction. When I juice mango it is inevitably in small slices and some of it goes through without being juiced. I juice a quarter of a pineapple at a time, and small slices of that end up in the pulp basket without being juiced. Once or twice I have had to stop the machine and remove the slice which was blocking the chute. Carrots and apples go through without a problem. It runs quietly and is easy to assemble and use. Parts go in the dishwasher, but I end up washing it by hand. The pulp basket needs scrubbing with a brush, but washing inside the chute is easy because it is wide enough for my hand. (Not so with juicer at work.)You can use the pulp for baking. I put mine in the compost.
