I have had Henckels knives for years now. They were given to me as gifts but in my lifetime, I will never need to replace these knives. They never get dull and they are so versatile. The 5" serrated utility knife is great for slicing tomatoes when a chef's knife makes them hard to slice. This knife is also great for trimming the fat off of chicken breasts because the fat is gooey and hard to get a hold of with a chef knife. I highly recommend this knife. It's worth the extra money. This knife amongst others are MUST haves!

J.A. Henckels has been manufacturing top quality knives since its founding in Solingen, Germany, more than 260 years ago. Simple, heavy duty and functional, all Henckels knives are made from high carbon, no-stain steel and crafted using the FRIODUR ice-hardening process for maximum blade strength and a long-lasting edge. Hygenic and slip-resistant, the polypropylene handles are seamlessly fitted to the bolster for safety and comfort during use. Knives in the Five Star series feature a special "no-corners" ergonomic handle for an especially comfortably grip and minimal fatigue of the hand. Full tang extends throughout the handle. Dishwasher safe. Great for tomatoes, salami, croissants and other small foods with hard crusts or skin. Makes the job of cutting juicy or soft vegetables, fruits, and baked goods much easier.
The serrated 5-inch cutting edge and ergonomic handle make this a top-notch utility knife. Forged in Solingen, Germany, of a combination of ice-hardened carbon and stainless steel for edge retention, rust-resistance, and durability, this knife easily cuts through any food with a tough outer casing: sausages, tomatoes, eggplant, or crusty bread, for example. Most useful indeed!

The ergonomic polypropylene handle lies comfortably in your hand, facilitating strain-free use; the metal bolster acts as a finger-guard; and the blade, bolster, and tang are fused into a single, seamless piece for easy handling and balance.. The absence of rivets and recesses in the synthetic handle allows for dishwasher use. Finally!
