Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 8-inch Stainless-Steel Bread Knife

Customer Review: Excellant Quality
Summary: 5 Stars

This knive works perfectly for slicing breads, cakes & other flour products, could not find a single fault with it.

Customer Review: Excellent bread knife
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this knife for over two years and routinely use it to slice bread and to chop hard chocolate. Although some of the points of the serrations have dulled (probably due more to the chocolate than the bread), the knife still slices through a hard baguette (or even a tomato) with ease.

The JA Henckels International branded knives are less expensive and feel less substantial than the more expensive Twin/4 Star/5 Star etc. series, but this bread knife gets the job done. I have top-of-the-line Shun chef's and santoku knives which I love, but I would never consider 'upgrading' to a top-of-the-line bread knife because I can't imagine it performing any better than this one.

Customer Review: Excellent quality at a breathtakingly low price
Summary: 4 Stars

Henckels "International" line is identical to their regular knives--but it's made in China. It's made very well too, and unless you looked at the fine print, you wouldn't realize that it wasn't made in Germany. The bread knife is a bit shorter than we are used to in the States, but it works well for crusty baguettes and Italian bread. An excellent way to build up your knife collection with a quality product at a bargain price.

Customer Review: Fake!
Summary: 1 Stars

Please be aware this is not a J.A. Henckels knife. It is a very cheap imitation and not worth a cent!

Customer Review: Gets the job done!
Summary: 5 Stars

Brand name is not an issue when it comes to bread knives. Bread knives are harder to sharpen because of its serrated blade, so they are basically just a tool which you use it until it gets dull and then toss it away. You really don't need to spend too much on it!

This knife works equally as well as a Wusthof one, for a fraction of the price. The weight of the knife is heavy enough to slice through a loaf of baguette easily without having to put in extra wrist power. The serrated blades are sharp enough so that it leaves no crumbs, and the length of the knife is perfect to cut both long loaves and short ones. Highly recommended.
