Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 8-inch Stainless-Steel Bread KnifeCustomer Review: Cheap price, not a cheap knife Summary: 4 Stars
I have been wanting a Henckel bread knife for some time, and even had it on my Christmas list, but no one took the hint. When I came across this one for $9.99 at Amazon I was very skeptical, but after reading the other reviews I decided to order it. When it arrived I immediately opened the box to check it out. I found it to be a good size, feels good in my hand, is very well weighted, and after washing and drying it, put it to the test. I sliced into a tomato, and it worked beautifully----I can make very thin slices without smushing. Then, I peeled and sliced a grapefruit with it---lovely. I still haven't used it on bread, but will as soon as I have time to make some crusty peasant herb bread or a loaf of focaccia. I have made a gazillion purchases from Amazon, everything from books to phones, toys, cutting boards, flatware, videos, yoga mats, all kinds of goodies, but have never felt compeled to write a review until now. That should tell you how much I love this knife. I did not give it five stars only because I assume the German made version must be superior---but then look at the cost. This is one of my happier purchases from Amazon. If you would like a great bread knife to use on bread, slice sandwiches, tomatoes, fruit, etc., get this one. For ten bucks it's a steal. And if you should see bread knife on someone's wish list, give them this one.
Customer Review: Cheapest high quality knife you'll find Summary: 5 Stars
For a price just south of $..., you really can't beat this knife. It could be a bit longer, but it gets the job done in style. It looks great, feels solid and just has an all around feel of quality.
Customer Review: Cut through bread like warm taffy. Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is great. Used to I had to pitch a loaf or two because my butter knife's serrated edge just didn't cut it. Then I found this low cost alternative, and pow my bread is sliced up like a bowel full of jelly. Also, the O.J. Simpson case knife styling is not hard to tell. I often think of myself as O.J. as I slice my helpless bread loaf victims to shreds.
Customer Review: Cut your bread Summary: 5 Stars
I have a bread machine that says I should wait fifteen minutes to cut the loaf. With this knife, I can cut it immediately. Enough said?
Customer Review: Does the Job Summary: 5 Stars
It's a knife. Hand feel is good and the size works well for cutting crusty breads with a soft center. Balance is good.
