Customer Review: Works great, but directions or a diagram would help a lot!!

Handy solution to those awkward installations, but doesn't come with instructions or even a diagram, and is not intuitive enough to figure out without a lot of trial and error. For starters, the steel ring has to be forced over the flange that connects to the disposer, which is easy enough. But because it slips over, it also slips off pretty easily, which is what happened when I tried to maneuver the other end into the drain pipe. I finally solved that by wrapping electrical tape 3-4 times around the disposer end of the tube so that the ring didn't flop around, while continuing the tape slightly up onto the plastic end flange itself, so that when the steel ring is bolted down, the tape compresses and creates a stronger flange. It then bolted down securely, and I was able to bend the tube into the drain.
The other problem is that, because there are no directions, it's difficult to determine the proper assembly of the rubber gasket and plastic ring. Again, after much trial and error, I noticed a slot in the rubber gasket into which the plastic ring fits perfectly. The rubber gasket fits into the disposer only one way, so once the preceding is figured out, it works just fine.
Because this is an accordion-style expanding hose, it will be interesting to see how well it holds up over time. At the very least, a cleaner will have to be used more often to get the settled-in muck that is sure to build up. But for the tight bends I needed, it worked a lot better than re-doing the whole drain.
