Customer Review: Pretty Much Perfect

It seems that no humidifier gets consistently positive reviews, so you really just have to take a chance on one that seems slightly less problematic than all the rest. That said, I've had zero problems with this so far, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've been using it almost non-stop for about 4 months and it's still working like new.
I bought this for my infant daughter to help combat the dry air in our apartment. I really can't say enough in terms of how effective it was, and there was a noticable difference in my daughter's sinuses and eczema-plagued skin. I also really like that it cycles on and off to keep our desired humidity setting.
I live in NYC, so I may have a high tolerance for noise, but even given that, I rarely notice it even when set pretty high. I'd truly describe it as white noise rather than anything intrusive.
You do need to clean it often - this is just the nature of warm mist humidifiers. The mineral pad really helps (I forgot to use it for a week and noticed a big difference in the amount of build-up on the heating plate), but I only replace the pad every several weeks, so it lasts pretty long. I clean the unit and heating plate every week with vinegar, and use CLR every few weeks on the plate for a deep clean, but not every time.
Two cents on warm vs cool: I highly recommend warm mist humidifiers over cool mist. I tried the cute, and very popular, penguin cool-mist and it was absolutely useless even on the max setting. Parenting mags and the sort will preach the perils of warm mist humidifiers, but this is ONLY b/c they limit liability, i.e. there's no heat, so no chance that some idiot will let their kid play with it and get burned. If you focus on which one actually works, then there's literally no discussion.
One last comment - shop around - I love Amazon, but their price for this item was not at all competitive versus other retailers. I ultimately bought mine at HD for a much lower price.

Best suited for rooms up to 1400 square feet in size, the humidifier's heater is crafted in stainless steel for quick heat production and trouble-free cleaning. The compact humidifier outputs 4 gallons of warm steam for each full tank of water. This humidifier offers users a timer function for running the unit for preset periods, ranging from an hour to the maximum 18-hour setting. Digital controls and the easy-to-read LCD screen enable users to alter or monitor current preference settings. A medicine cup allows users to run the humidifier as a vaporizer for stuffed noses, sore throats and other respiratory illnesses. An automatic shutdown feature reduces safety hazards.
