Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of TravelRest - The Travel Pillow Reinvented - BlueCustomer Review: A waste of money Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this travel pillow based on the positive reviews, both by Amazon customers and by the media. I took it with me on an endless flight from Texas to Rwanda. After trying it out three different times, I opted to use the airplane pillow and headrest. When you put your head on this pillow, the air moves all around, creating hard and soft spots. The shape makes it tough to position somewhere that it will stay put, unless you are actually sitting in a window seat and can rest the pillow against the airplane wall. And if you're in a window seat, you don't need it. The straps/cords are useless.
In short, it was too expensive and poorly designed for me, relatively useless. I'm sending it to Goodwill today. A waste of money.
Customer Review: Adding my praise for this pillow. Summary: 5 Stars
I want to add my praise for this pillow. I travel a lot on long flights overseas. In the past, I had a number of pillows that worked "okay." They were better than nothing but left a lot to be desired. Then I saw this pillow discussed in the LA Times travel section and decided that I had to try it. So glad I did. I actually sleep now. I just ordered it as a gift for two of my traveling buddies.
Customer Review: An innovative product that really works Summary: 5 Stars
For years I traveled with one of those c-shaped travel pillows and for years I complained about it. I'd usually end up sitting on the thing since it was so uncomfortable around my neck. When I happened about the TravelRest, I jumped on it. The TravelRest easily rolls up for packing, and it's just as easy to inflate (takes a couple of breaths) and deflate. For the first time, I slept through almost the entire flight, the TravelRest was that comfortable. I had a minor problem trying to open up the valve when I went to use it on my flight home. After talking with the manufacturer (wonderful, committed people who know their product inside out and are totally responsive), I learned it was user error (go figure). They walked me through what to do and I haven't had a problem since. It's a great product that I tell everyone because I love it when something works this well.
Customer Review: As a Flight Attendant I highly recommend this pillow Summary: 5 Stars
When airline employees travel we fly stand by, which means we end up with the last seats on the plane, usually a middle seat next to strangers. I've never been able to comfortably fall asleep on a plane for fear my head would nod on to the stranger next to me (or theirs on me). The TravelRest pillow has solved that problem. Not only did it provide the necessary privacy from the person next to me, it supported my head and neck and allowed me to relax and sleep.
The first time I used it, by the time I got into my middle seat the person at the window was asleep. Not wanting to wake them in order to attach the cord to the seat, I wore my pillow. I liked hugging it across my chest, but also put it on the side and leaned into it. It made me feel cozy and `tucked in'. I was also able to move it from one side to the other without bothering the people around me.
While working, I've seen so many people bobbing their heads or leaning on the stranger next to them, this pillow would solve that problem. It can also be used in the gate areas while waiting for your flight, as well as on buses, trains or cars. The fact that it is so compact when deflated is an added bonus. I highly recommend everyone get one of these pillows.
Customer Review: Awesome pillow! Summary: 5 Stars
Hands down the best travel pillow I've owned. The support is great and it beats those neck U shaped pillows by a mile. I was actually able to sleep on a recent long haul international flight thanks to the travelrest pillow. It's so good my brother, cousin, and sister in law ended up buying them for their next trips. Whenever I wasn't sleeping they wanted to use it!
As someone else said, wearing it like a messenger bag is the best way to do it if you're trying to sleep on the plane, simply cuddling with it won't work because it'll be popping out of place even if it is just attached to the seatbelt. I'd also agree with bringing a pillow case from home maybe to cover it because it seems a little more "familiar" to the person wearing it, the suede is a little weird on the face. Grab a hoodie or blanket, and eye blinders and you'll be sleeping in no time with this pillow.
If you're planning on taking any long flights and have tried over and over again to find a good resting pillow look no further. Buy this and you will probably wonder how you ever made it through with the other types of pillow.
