Customer Review: An expensive way to ruin your clothes

This is the ideal product for someone who wants to ruin his or her clothes, but doesn't have the time or patience to stain them individually. Purex 3-in-1 sheets will deposit greasy spots on all your things in one go. Now that's convenience!
The spots are more visible on synthetics (polyester, rayon) than on cotton; but a grease spot, even one that you can't see right away, attracts dirt more readily, so that later on you WILL see it.
Based on my experience contacting Purex through their website, as well as other reviews I've read on Amazon and elsewhere, it's clear that the company knows about this. They just don't care. They say that these spots can occur with any laundry product. Maybe so, but that has not been my experience. I've never had a laundry product leave blotchy oil stains on my clothes before.
They advise you to rub the stains, er, "spots" with a bar of soap and then wash again, but some fabrics cannot tolerate the rubbing. I tried a pre-treater on one particular blouse. It removed some of the spots but not all of them. I'll try again with another pre-treater, but it's quite delicate and I am not happy that I have to shorten its useful lifespan to wash it three times (or more) when one should have sufficed.
