Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of NE VR 29160 BIG CITY SLIDERS

Customer Review: Piece of JUNK and DANGEROUS!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought this after seeing the commercial and I was SO excited to use it! First time, burgers turned out great...despite the fact that cleanup was a nightmare, as the burned bottom (despite a ton of non-stick spray) took about 30 minutes to fully clean since you can't put in the dishwasher. Second time, I noticed that the bottom was even worse than the first use, and by the third use, ALL THE BURGERS TURNED BRIGHT SILVER BECAUSE THE COATING MELTED RIGHT ONTO THE FOOD!!!!!!!!! Not only EXTREMELY dangerous, but possibly could have poisoned us!!!! BEWARE!!!! I hope that another more reputable company comes out with a quality product similar to this, because it really is a great idea. I guess you get what you pay for.

Customer Review: Piece of junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Product is a lot smaller than it looks in the picture. Burgers are the size of flattened meatballs. It's supposed to be nonstick, but isn't. Cleans up easily on the commercial. One use and mine probably wouldn't clean up with a sandblaster. It's going back. Save yourself the trouble and don't buy it.

Customer Review: Piece of junk. Same problem as everyone here.
Summary: 1 Stars

My fiance bought this piece of junk trying to be sweet to me because I love those sliders from Chilli's. Like someone else mentioned here, we had a GREAT first batch of five burgers (yes they are small, they are supposed to be for Christ's sake - go to a restaurant they are the same!). I put the second batch on and when I lifted the lid I looked and could see silver all over the grill marks of the burgers. Clearly this is the non-stick coating coming off.

At first I thought maybe I didn't wash it at first well enough (the directions tell you to wash with warm soapy water, which I did, but I thought maybe not enough), but I put it through the dishwasher and handwashed it and had the same exact problems the second time, on the first batch.

And to the person saying you shouldn't have it hot - that's ridiculous. These should be able to be turned on high with no problems. A company that makes this crappy product should expect that some people's medium setting is going to be hotter than others.

Personally I used medium-low because we are at high altitude and I wanted to make sure the inside got cooked before the outside was burnt, so I know temperature was the problem.

Bottom line - save your money! The sliders at a restaurant are usually 6-7 bucks and you still have to buy buns, meat and condiments in addition to this crappy product. Save your family the trouble of getting sick from eating Teflon.

Customer Review: Problems with the non-stick coating.
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't buy. The non stick coating came off onto the burgers on the second use, I will have to throw the whole thing away. I also had the same problems with food sticking and clean up was extremely difficult. It is smaller then I thought, but the preschoolers enjoyed the tiny burgers. Ground turkey worked better, with less grease mess then hamburger. If you don't clean it between batches, anything left behind got burnt and smoked up the house. The burgers didn't seem to cook evenly and when the top gets pressed on, the steam coming up could be dangerous. All in all, a big disappointment.

Customer Review: Silver flaking off
Summary: 1 Stars

I used this thing for the first time tonight and I thought it was a great idea. Burgers are perfect, except there are silver spots all over the top (not the bottom) and it is clearly the coating coming off. I thought maybe it was the first batch, but we made 45 burgers and damn near every one of them had these metallic spots on them on the top. It's like layer after layer of this silver paint is cooking onto the burger.

Heat was medium and the splatter over the edges during cooking did make a bit of a mess to clean, so after considering the time it takes to clean the slider maker and the stove, it's just better to use a regular pan and press your own sliders out.

Good luck if you buy/bought this thing.
