Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of NE VR 29160 BIG CITY SLIDERSCustomer Review: I absolutely love this thing! Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews here and thought for 19.99 I'd give it a shot. My son and I fired it up last night and we LOVE it. It's the coolest kitchen gadget I have. In only 5 minutes of cooking (clearly not 2, it's meat not microwave popcorn) we had five little burgers (and they are mini burgers, like mini marshmallows, in other words small like the name says, people). What we loved was the different toppings we could use because every burger was different and the neat sort of five bite serving of each burger. As for the non stickiness of the pan, well it's a simple thing to simply spray some cooking spray. It wasn't hard to clean.
We're using it again tonight. I totally recommend this because it's fun and quick for weeknight meals.
Customer Review: Love It! Summary: 5 Stars
Not sure what all of the negative reviews are about. I was having a Mother's Day party and thought it would be a great idea to serve sliders since there were going to be children included as guest. It was easy to use and I didn't have a problem with the burgers sticking. I ended up making 96 burgers (green pepper/onion, lamb/feta cheese, pork/BBQ and bacon/cheeseburger). The burgers were a big hit. Clean up was easy, but I used Pam on the surface (but I use it all the time, even on non-stick surfaces. Haven't experienced the coating coming off as of yet). I got the mini hamburger buns from Costco (24/pack). I think the folks that are experiencing sticking may be overcooking them. It really only takes 2-3 minutes to cook the burgers and mine had quite a bit of liquid that needed to be poured off. I plan on getting a second one to cut down on cooking time.
Customer Review: Make your own - it's easier Summary: 2 Stars
We were very disappointed in this product for the following reasons.
1. The burgers are smaller than sliders you would find in any restaurant including White Castle - think silver dollar size.
2. Cleaning it may be easy, but cleaning the stove after all the splatter from it is not fun. The wells at the bottom are not deep enough to hold the drippings and we used a very lean ground beef.
3. It takes much longer than the 2 minutes advertised in their infomercial. If you're trying to make burgers for more than 2 people, it'll take forever.
4. The price + shipping cost is triple what it is worth.
Bottom line: Save your money and fry it on your own pan.
Customer Review: Makes yummy little sliders! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand the bad reviews! The instuctions clearly state to cook on medium heat. I did this and it took 5 minutes to cook them through. I like them well done. I used 10% fat organic ground beef. They did shrink a little but they were fine. Pan was very easy to clean. No problems whatever!
Customer Review: Not a disappointment Summary: 5 Stars
I thought this was exactly as it was described. It easily makes sliders (LITTLE hamburgers). I found it to be easy and fun to use and easy to clean. It does take longer than 2 minutes to finish cooking on an electric coil stove (about 5 - 6 min.) If you check it and it's not done, just replace the top and wait another minute or two. There is no need to try to flip them. I followed the included instructions for cleaning and had no problems, and found it unexpectedly easy. The sliders are cooked (not flame-broiled) and taste accordingly. My kids love them because they have no hard dry edges. I was pleased with the size of the burgers (fits great on half a hot dog bun) and with the size of the pan (easy to store). I'm happy!
