I was looking for a nice, functional, hopefully attractive, affordable set of kitchen knives, and this set of knives fits the bill perfectly. The knives are very attractive, well-made, extremely sharp, and oh-so-reasonably priced! I'm no chef, I just need the right knife to do the particular job I need to do at the moment. The stainless steel in the black block coordinates beautifully with my other black and stainless steel appliances, plus the knives and scissors perform the jobs they were designed to do. Don't know what to say about other reviewers' problems; all I know is that this set of knives has performed to spec for me. I noticed that the matching carving set is available here at Amazon, and I'm going for that set next. This set was very-well packed, and arrived in excellent condition and ahead of schedule. I had not previously purchased an item online before and was skeptical about what I would get. The process was easy and the Ginsu knives were more than I expected. They are just as sharp as the 1980's TV commercials, have attractive handles, a comfortable weight and an attractive storage block. I love these knives! The block it came in is even better looking than the one in the Pic. They are sharp, classy, and goes well with silver wear. I personallly hand wash my knives and I think if you purchase these you should be prepared to do that. So far these knives have been great, although I just got them. I thought I would mention that I had stainless steel silverware that was always rusting/tarnishing in the dishwasher and when I soaked it in water. I recently purchased another set of silverware made from stainless steel. Interestingly, there was a label on it that said to avoid using lemon soaps, and soaking in water as this will cause rusting/tarnishing. I took this advice and I haven't had any rusting/tarnishing since. Maybe this could explain why some buyers had problems with these knives rusting in the dishwasher. I have noticed that many dishwasher detergents have lemon in them.Customer Review: Absolutely Super, Great Value and for Right and Left handers

Quality is excellent; cuts well; great starter set for our young professional daughter, who we know won't sharpen knives. Nice appearance and good feel to the handles. Serated on both sides of the blade for either handed person!
