Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of ILLUMINATED MAGNIFIERCustomer Review: Larger than it appears Summary: 2 StarsFor some reason, I had the impression that this magnifier was small, it is not, it is about four to five inches across.
I also took the yellow tint shown to be some sort of vision enhancement aid. When it arrived, however, I found that it actually has no yellow tint whatsoever.
Futhermore, the cheap little light bulb assembly that clips onto the side fails to do what even a ten cent flash light can do, and that is to keep the little metal strips in contact so that the light will stay on.
I threw this in the garbage about ten minutes after receiving it and don't miss it at all.
Customer Review: Sort of works Summary: 2 StarsThe illuminated magnifier does just that...illuminates and magnifies to a nice 5X. However, since there is only one bulb on one side, the illumination is brighter on one side of the object viewed. The bulb is a small 2.5 volt bulb. Also, it is advertised as "hands free". This is not the case since you must hold the switch down to continually get light. It doesn't stay on by itself. The base is all plastic as is the lens so it easily scratches. It is made in China.
