Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fusionbrands 3-Inch Silicone Poach Pod Egg Poaching Tool, GreenCustomer Review: Description not accurate Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these thinking I was getting a non-stick product, based on the description of the product above, but the label that came with the cups reads that I need to oil them. If I need to use oil, that's not non-stick.
Customer Review: Disappointed in Poach Pods Summary: 2 Stars
I expected the eggs to slide out of the poach pods once cooked, but they stuck to the silicone. I even tried greasing them with butter before using and the eggs still wouldn't slide out, they had to be scooped out leaving egg stuck to the silicone. Not what I expected. You also need to put a lid on the pot or it takes forever to cook the eggs.
Customer Review: Does the Job !!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been poaching eggs for years, especially Eggs Benedict, at special occasions, like Xmas and New Years morning. I've tried many, many gadgets, but ended up using the old vinegar and water technique. You have to put up with the mess in the pan and never knowing if they were really cooked to your taste. With the poacher, little or no mess, able to look at eggs and see the progress, and they all have same shape.
Some reviews complained about the taste, not a problem here, I keep the cups extremely clean, use butter flavored Pam, and use a muffin pan to set up the pods. Plus it's easy to cook them and store for a day, when they're about 80% done, i plunge them into ice cold water and keep in fridge, then reheat and finish cooking in a pan with water and vinegar. Not perfect, but if you have a large number of guests, it seems to be the best technique so that you can serve to all at the same time.
A great product !!!
Customer Review: Does what it says Summary: 5 Stars
Want to poach eggs? Don't want to haul out a klunky egg poacher with a bunch of parts that you will need to clean up later? These poach pods are just the thing to have if you like poached eggs quickly and without a lot of fuss. They are easy to use and clean up. The instructions suggest there are other uses for these little pods such as using them to mold food or for baking "flan, frittata or other baked goods" but I haven't tried that. A good product that does what it claims it will do.
Customer Review: Don't waste your time Summary: 1 Stars
While this is certainly cleverly stylish, it just doesn't work. The problem is basic design. Because the product is made of a silicon they are great at resisting heat - they won't melt in your pan etc. But because they are so great at resisting heat they also are terrible at transferring it. The eggs never heat up! If you're happy to wait all day for your two eggs to poach, while finally having to resort to pouring boiling water over them in order for the tops to cook then get this product. Otherwise, appreciate the design from afar and buy a traditional poacher.
