Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fulcrum Multi Flex LED Book Light, Blue

Customer Review: Perfect for night readers!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is great since I want enough light to read at night, but don't want to disturb my sleeping baby or husband by turning on a lamp. It's very bright, easy to reposition, and stays if I move. It even survived being swung around from the bulb end by my curious toddler (not recommended), so it's pretty durable. Clip is not too bulky and it's light enough to travel with. I bought several more thinking it's a nice idea as a small gift. So far, I'm very happy with it and use it every night!

Customer Review: Perfect for reading in bed
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this booklight all the time to read in bed. I lights up both pages of a hardback book very well, and it doesn't keep the hubby awake.

Customer Review: Provides light, but requires much effort ...
Summary: 1 Stars

This will do in a pinch, but I would opt to spend a little more money for another light. For a standard size book, the light covers about 1/3 - 1/2 of the page, and the reader must keep re-adjusting the light source to get the proper illumination. Unfortunately, you can't "get lost" in your book if you have to put out this much effort.

Customer Review: Reading light
Summary: 5 Stars

The book light we gave to our sister was greatly appreciated. Thank you for offering such great items.

Customer Review: Sliced bread is still out in front
Summary: 4 Stars

Not a technological breakthrough but lighter and more practical than some book lights I've gone through. Not enough light for musicians (at least not for piano players and instrumentalists whose scores spread to 2 pages or more) but therefore not enough to disturb your partner.

The pluses:

1. It's lighter than many.
2. The gooseneck design is very maneuverable and flexible.
3. The location of the switch (on the light itself instead of the base) makes it more accessible.

The non-pluses:

1. Primarily useful for hard-cover books. Magazines and most paperback books are too much of a hassle--all the more so for compulsive underliners and annotators. The stiff, overly large clip is partially the culprit.
2. Requires 3 AAAs. If Sony can construct a CD player that gets longer running time out of a single AA battery than most players do out of 3, why can't a booklight-maker do the same? (At least get it down to 2--I have yet to see a triple-pack of batteries at Walgreens.)
3. The slider on-off switch would be less disruptive, more user-friendly if it were a simple push button.

The Unknown: durability. Not foldable. Will it survive being tossed in a music/book bag? Being rolled on by a reader-turned-sleeper?

The Unremarkable: the price. Ten would be nice; anything more than fifteen might be cause to try a candle.
