Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Froth Au Lait Frothing Unit, White or Black

Customer Review: My favorite small appliance !
Summary: 5 Stars

I use my froth au lait every morning to make a perfect cappucino. My espresso machine did not give me the thick froth I loved so much from the $3.00 cups of coffee at Starbucks. One try of this machine and I was sold...

Customer Review: No More Espresso Maker Steam Tubes!
Summary: 5 Stars

A terrific frother. You don't have to mess around with a steam tube, and the frothed milk is easier to make and better than you would believe. You can even add flavoring syrups. Cleanup is easy.

Customer Review: Not worth it
Summary: 1 Stars

It's basically a blender with a screen attachment that beats the milk. It heats up the milk and beats it a bit. There is not a lot of froth. I was very disappointed. Nothing like what was shown on the box.

Customer Review: Outstanding Frother
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife NEVER has enough foam/froth when she makes her Chai Lattes.
We bought and Aeroccinco and it never made enough.
She would have to make 3 batches of foam to get enough to top off her mug.

We found this unit and she is THRILLED. The foam/froth is thick and plentiful! It is so thick it is almost like whipped cream.

Some reviewers mentioned that the the unit was noisy, but we didn't find it to be unreasonably loud - its similar to the sound of a blender.

As for the comments about clean up - we found it relatively easy. However, the milk does tend get scalded and stick to the heating element inside the carafe so you have to use a brush or firm sponge to remove the residue.

We would definitely recomend the unit. We are going to buy another for our place in Florida.

Customer Review: Perfect Froth Every Time: No Training Required
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought my Froth au Lait 5 years ago after reading many over-the-top reviews on the 'net including several on "coffee snob" blogs. The machine sounded too good to be true: press a button and wait 'til it turns off. The only 2 downsides I could find were a few people said (1) it doesn't look elegant next to a Rancilio or other fancy espresso machine and (2) it was hard to clean.

So I took the plunge and bought it in black. And now you can add my name to the list of fans. The machine makes a perfect cup of froth every time and I don't have to worry about the milk not being hot enough/too hot, whether my frother is submerged too low in the milk, etc.

Just pour the milk & press the button. The froth has more body than many commercial frothers (my friends' kids love it).

As far as cleaning goes, there are a few tips. One, clean it after every use and don't use an abrasive sponge. Two, if you use it twice in a row (like I do) you may want to dry the bottom after you clean it/before you pour the milk again. In my opinion, this is far easier to clean than the froth "attachments" that come with most espresso machines.

I just upgraded to a Froth & Sauce because I found out you can use an abrasive sponge on the bottom. (I have no intention of using it for sauces)

PROBLEMS/CUSTOMER SERVICE: If you have any problems or questions about your machine, I strongly advise you to contact the company directly. Froth au Lait seems to be a small family-based company that stands behind their product. Many of the coffee blogs complain about how manufacturers "cut and run" on their customers when there's a problem, especially when the warranty is up. Not Froth au Lait (in my experience).

MY ADVICE: If you like idiot-proof, perfect, morning cappuccinos, buy this machine. You'll make your money back in less than a month, if you (like me) decide that your "ventis" are better than Starbucks!
