Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass MoldCustomer Review: Neat little thing Summary: 4 Stars
Neat little things and quite the conversation piece. You do need to find a level spot in the freezer for the mold, I don't know why but I never seem to have one.
Customer Review: Neat novelty Summary: 4 Stars
This will last you a party or three, before you lose interest. The whole freezing thing can get in the way of your drinking. But otherwise it's pretty neat.
Suggestion: Fill it with hot watter and let it stand out for a while before finally freezing it. Hot watter contains less gas in mixture. The less gases you have mixed in with the water, the less bubbles will form upon freezing, this will give you stronger clearer ice that will last longer.
Customer Review: Not just ice. Summary: 5 Stars
Some have mention using hot water to make stronger clearer ice and that works, but I got to thinking... what else could I make shot glasses from? I melted some Jolly Ranchers and made shot glasses from those... turned out awesome. Next I'll try some chocolate. Also was thinking of using just plain melted sugar. Not sure how well gummy shot glasses wold work but I'm trying that. What else would make a good shot glass?
Customer Review: Not nearly as cool as they seem. Summary: 2 Stars
I was really stoked about these, and bought four trays to make enough for a party. However, apparently it wasn't taken into account that water expands as it freezes, so ALL of the 48 glasses that I made ended up with a "bulge" where the silicone rubber expanded into the glass, preventing them from even holding a full shot. Also, due to this same issue, the "bottom" of the glass had to then be melted down manually to make the glasses able to stand upright. If you want something that's kinda corny and fun for a one-time deal, and don't mind spending the money, go for it. If you intend to use these regularly at parties or in your home bar, I'd recommend a pass. Go with something that's maybe a little more sturdy to create the shape.
Customer Review: Novel Toy for the entire family Summary: 4 Stars
Novel toy to play with. I've frozen Cranberry Juice, Orange juice, Tonic Water & others just to see what I come up with.
It works as advertised, and is only a little tricky to get out of the mold.
The shot glass starts melting in your hand right away, whether or not there's booze in the mix or inside. It can be a bit messy, so outside parties would be best.
Our favorite use for it, however, is to put Cranberry juice in it, then drop the finished shot glass into a Pepsi. Great flavor & my daughter enjoys picking it out & chewing on the pieces.
Hope this helps your decision. :)
