Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale - Professional Food and Nutrient CalculatorCustomer Review: Amazingly accurate Summary: 5 Stars
Firstly i was amazed at how little space this occupies on the kitchen counter! Its a very well finished product, and goes well with my other hi tech kitchen equipment. Its also very easy to enter just the code, ad i use only a few items everyday. Some other scales need to be input with the names of the items, which becomes cumbersome.
The weighing is pretty accurate down to the last gram, and has been consistent over time. I would prefer to have total calories, carbs, proteins and fat read out to me on 1 screen rather than having to toggle for Proteins and fats, which are on different screens (can be selected using a toggle key). Thats just a minor grouse but overall i am very pleased with this wonderful device.
Customer Review: An Amazing Advance Summary: 4 Stars
I've been quite pleased with the EatSmart scale. The level of preciseness it brings to the (literal) table is wonderful, and allows me to manage my Type II diabetes. And the additional calculations of carbs, calories, etc. are wonderful--I particularly like the ability to measure label quantities. Either my mental math was off or those pretzel manufacturers haven't done their work in a little while, because I discovered I was eating almost twice as much as I should have once I started to really measure.
As for the critical side, there are three things I wish the scale had:
1) Bigger Typeface--I know there's a lot of info, but I'm 40 and have to lean close to read. I'd love to recommend this to my 65+ uncle, but he would have a tough time reading some of the smaller pieces of data on the screen.
2) Storage of Regular Items--Because I'm trying to watch what I eat, I often eat the same things. I wish there were up to 25 storage elements for me to keep regularly tapped data, rather than having to go back to the back-of-the-box every time.
3) Backlight--The manual mentions an auto-on backlight, but mine doesn't appear to have one. I don't have the most light-filled kitchen, and I would love it if the screen were a little better.
I suspect many out there have the same questions I had: Does it really do what it says? Is it better than others out there? Is it easy to use? And is it worth all that extra money? The answers to each of those questions would be a yes (although this isn't one of those product you can simply use without first reading the manual). Highly recommended.
Customer Review: An excellent addition for any diabetic Summary: 4 Stars
An excellent scale. It has really helped us get control of portion sizes, and as a result we've maintained better control of blood sugars.
The food library is nice; we wish that the food codes would match the produce codes that are in use in the grocery (4011 = banannas, etc...). Overall a very nice product!
Customer Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I have looked for a really long time for a combination item like this!! It makes the "Chore" of cooking so much easier as you are adding items to you plate you don't have to add everything manually, it does it for you!
Very accurate and has definately helped my healthy eating habits improve now not having to guess at #of calories, protein, carbs etc.
Customer Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I used a postage scale for awhile to weigh my food. This thing is awesome know I can get all my facts that I need to plan my meals. I am a diabetic and this scale is my true answer to the balancing act that us diabetics have to figure out.
