I needed a simple way to find the nutritional food values in the food products I prepare for diner. With this EatSmart scale I believe I am on my way to better planing and prepareing the foods I eat. Having diabetes makes this all the more important for me.

Customer Review: A useful and elegant tool for managing my food intake Summary: 4 Stars
After visiting stores and looking at all types of scales, after researching the Internet, reading other peoples' reviews, and discussing with two nutrition specialists, I decided to purchase the EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale.
It's been only a few days since it arrived, and I'm still experimenting with it, but I made the right choice. The scale looks great, is easy to use, and my food intake management got much better. I like the tare function and the dual mode (by type of food or by the package label).
Why then only four stars?
I grew up in Eastern Europe and I am not your typical North American food consumer. The booklet contains about 1000 food codes, but still some of my favorites are missing, while some of those foods I see in the booklet I'd never touch. I'm missing a way of adding my favorites to the scale default list. The compromise is to use similar equivalents instead.
The second thing I'm missing is an easy and simple way of finding the nutritional values of portions of home made complex foods. No other scale offers such a function either. I guess "easy" and "complex" don't mix well.
All in all, I'm happy with my new toy. It looks great, it's very useful, and it's fun to use.
Customer Review: Absolutely First-Rate! Summary: 5 Stars
Unlike other food scales I've used, this one is absolutely accurate and consistent. It is sturdy, attractive, and easy to use. The scale would benefit any serious cook, as well as anyone with concerns about their weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, or any other condition affected by food intake.
The hundreds of food codes cover an amazing array of edibles - even baked potato [skins only], one of my favorite foods! Red and yellow sweet peppers are listed separately, because they have slightly different nutritional values.
And I can enter the label quantity of nutrients in a prepackaged food, then weigh how much I want to eat, and get exact measurements instead of guesstimates of calories, carbs, fat, sodium, fiber, and seven other nutrients. No more trying to use measuring cups and spoons to scoop the precise "serving size" out of the pot, and working to get every last bit on to the plate - I measure what I am actually about to eat, and have an accurate count of everything of interest to me.
The EatSmart Digital Nutrition Scale is worth every penny and more to anyone who is serious about nutritional content.
Customer Review: Acurate Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this scale after reading the reviews. I have not been disappointed. I needed a scale that would be Extremely accurate because I am on a restricted calorie diet; I have to say that this scale fits the bill. I tested it by using the same Item and placed it on the scale over and over again; I put it in the same spot and in different spots and the scale read it the same every time. The features work great. I love the tare function, but it would be nice if it was back lit. Some reviews say it is hard to see with a large object on it and I can see how that could be a problem, however I have not run into it. the platform is large enough that you can push the plate towards the back so that it over hangs and bit, that way you can read it. I have to say the print is small, but readable. All the buttons on the front work great, are easy to find, and use. This scale has helped me a lot and I definitely would recommend it; in fact, I have!
