This thermometer reads steady until you have to stir candy. The weight of the candy moves the probe all over the pan, and the reading jumps wildly by 20 degrees. I overcooked some peanut brittle because it gave me an erroneous reading. The attachment to the pot is too flimsy. It will probably work good if you don't have to stir the contents of what you are cooking. The display has big digits, but they are dim, especially when the steam fogs it up.
