Customer Review: 400 Watt Oil Heater Will melt your rubber shoes!

Pros: Lightweight, quiet, 400 watts, small...very thin. Can be put places like under a sink or in a closet to keep pipes from freezing. So small, it can go places where other radiant or fan/coil/ceramic heaters can't go.
CONS: Does not produce enough heat.....unit gets very hot to the touch..so hot can melt shoes if you touch the rubber of the shoe to the ide of theunit. Lack of fins means lack of convection....which means it is not efficient at transferring heat to it's surroundings. Do you want to pay electricity to heat metal? Or to heat the room around it?
Final Comments: We bought it to put underneath a tiny desk, but since my wife can't touch it with her feet, we have to try to use it elsewhere. But it will not work for the underdesk unit we hoped it would be. If you have a big desk, or L-=shaped desk big enough NOT to touch your feet to it, might work for you. Or might go under your kitchen sink or other places to keep pipes warm
