Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of DAZER II Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent

Customer Review: Cat tamer
Summary: 5 Stars

We originally bought this for an annoying neighbor dog but found that using it on our 3, middle-of-the-night-noise-making cats has been the true use of our Dazer. We love this thing. In time I hope to train the cats to SLEEP at night and not wrestle in the baby's room at 2 a.m. As for using it on dogs, it seemed to work on the neighbors dog but they've since moved so it hasn't gotten much "dog" use. Next target is the yappy dog across the street. Usually has a barking fit when my son goes down for his nap. Good luck with your Dazer.

Customer Review: Confirm does not work on all dogs.
Summary: 3 Stars

Bad point, it does not work on old dogs. The good point is, that it does works on cats too. So you are out of luck if you meet some old dogs.

Customer Review: DIDN'T STOP THE ANNOYING UNLEASHED LABRADOR
Summary: 2 Stars

I got this device in a desperate attempt to deal with the neighbor's chocolate lab, who is allowed to wander unleashed up and down our residential street on a daily basis. The "Dazer" was purchased as a compromise between "Let's leave out some poison hamburger" (my husband, mostly in jest) and "Let's call Animal Control and make the neighbors angry at us." I leaned toward the latter, being opposed to dog murder (it's not the lab's fault his owners are jerks) and ultimately thinking that I shouldn't be concerned with angering people who have such utter disrespect for their neighbors that they would let their dog poop and urinate in our yards, dig up and eat flowers, and growl at innocent passers-by as "mom and dad" rake, shovel snow, or chit-chat with their friends without so much as a "Coors, get back here!" Yes, "Coors" is reputedly a former fraternity mascot, which explains the mentality of the neighbors maybe...no offense to all of those upstanding fraternity members out there. But I digress. Breathing now.

The "Dazer" works from a distance of greater than 10 feet only on the following: small, yippy dogs and snoozing family cats. We did have one little rodent-dog in our front yard and when I aimed the DD at him from about 30 feet, he came to attention and barked louder. But, it did make him run in the other direction as he aimed his unpowerful rat-bark at me over his shoulder.

Likewise, it got my cat's attention when I accidentally pressed the Dazer button inside the house. It brought my sleeping, innocent feline to attention on all fours with wide eyes and his hackles up. Too bad my cat doesn't have behavior problems.

I tried it on the annoying chocolate four-legged frat-keg several times with absolutely no effect. In his state of barking (exacerbated, I admit, by me standing with hands on hips staring at him in the eye to intimidate him), he either doesn't hear the Dazer, or he is too focused on killing me to care. I once even drove my car past him as he nibbled on the neighbor's evergreen. I slowed down, pointed the Dazer, and pushed the button from about 15 feet away. He looked up with total indifference (he might have rolled his eyes) and went back to foliage destruction.

I give the Dazer II two stars for the yippy dog and for occasionally getting the attention of my own dogs if they are lazing around on the lawn not barking, not focused on anything, and not really in need of an ultrasonic sound to bring them to attention. Sometimes I just like the dopey look they get looking around for the source of the sound (expertly hidden in my pocket). Frankly, after cleaning up Coor's poop for the umpteenth time, the poison hamburger is sounding more and more like an option.

I'm joking. Really an airsoft pellet gun is the way to go. But ditch the Dazer.

Customer Review: DOES NOT WORK
Summary: 1 Stars

The item doesn't work after replacing the battery and I emailed the company explaining my situation and asked about their refund policy. Never got an answer.

Plus been chased by a dog while running when I had the Dazer. Now I changed my route, wish I could get a refund.

Customer Review: Daze Em

Doesnt work on all dogs...the smaller the better. It's kinda funny using it on real small dogs. Big dog...big teeth???? Not much help.
