I really like this crock pot. I have used it from cooktop to crock pot as well as tried a few recepies from the free cookbook - they were great. The feature of cooking and then automatically switching to warm is the greatest feature.
Only complaint is it chips easily so be careful washing.

Love the crock pot. I have used it to brown meat / saute onions on stove top before putting it in the cooker pot - that does work. Crock pot works great. I read in several reviews that the high & low settings were reversed. Didn't quite believe it until I noticed that when I started a recipe as they usually do with 1 hour at High to get things going then 6-8 hours at low to actually cook the meal that the contents barely got past warm when I did the 1 hour at high, but an hour or so later on low it was bubbling away and quite hot. After cooking 2 meals with this I did a test and sure enough... they are reversed. I did a water test several times and after an hour at each setting the "LOW" setting tested approximately 20 degrees warmer than the "HIGH" setting. I like the versitility of this. Being able to brown on stove top with the difusser, then slow cook, saves time and work. Does a great job and the timer is very handy when it needs to stop before you get home. Handles on this model are much better, broke the others off right away, these are much stronger.Customer Review: Great for slow cooking, but don't try to sear in it.

While this product claims to be able to be used to sear meat before your slow cook it, I would not recommend trying it. The ceramic insert must be used with a heat diffuser, and then only at medium heat. I doubt if you could get meat to brown at that temperature within a reasonable time. That said, it is a wonderful slow cooker. The heavy lid and ceramic insert allow for very even heat. If you are looking for a slow cooker that you can start and leave the house without worrying about it, I highly recommend this one. I have used it for Corned Beef, Pot Roast, and Lasagna (without pre-cooking the noodles - cool); all turned out wonderful. The countdown timer let's you set the time you think you want dinner ready. If you are late, it shifts to warm so dinner is ready whenever you are. My kind of lifestyle.Customer Review: Great item!

I bought this after looking at many reviews and other brand/styles. I have been very happy with my purchase. I use this crockpot several days a week and it is a life saver, very convenient. The only thing that I have noticed is that when making a pasta or rice dish (basically a dish that is not alot of liquid) it tends to burn on the parts that are around the border. I have not yet attempted to reduce the cooking time to see if this corrects the problem. All of the other recipes I have used have been fine. It is extremely handy to be able to pre-cook in the pot to avoid an extra mess. I absolutely love that it has a timer and then changes to warm after the time is up. I would recommend this to anyone!
