It's my own fault for not measuring first, but I "assumed" this was the size colander I wanted based on the description and the price. I had one which I gave to a friend, and purchased this as a replacement. I was rather shocked when it arrived, as it is very small...but it does actually measure 7-1/2 inches across the top, so the description is correct. The one I want is more like 11-inches. I think the price is way too high for a colander of this size. It's suitable for draining cans, or holding a small batch of grapes or cherries, but not much else.
