I have a mini-cuisinart and a full sized one, but since I received this herb processor as a gift, I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, after a day of trying to chop herbs and mince garlic with it, I'd rather spend the extra time setting up and cleaning the mini-cuisinart. I found that most of the time, this herb processor just mashes everything up, or crushes it, no matter what blade I use. Juices from the herbs or garlic just leak out, weakening their overall flavor and limiting their usefulness. If I need to quickly chop some herbs, I'd rather just do it by hand or by cuisinart.

Herb and food processor.A handy gadget for cooks short on time, the Chef'n Rev'n Chef herb processor uses a spinning blade and a pull string to chop fresh herbs and other flavorful ingredients. Though neither as direct nor as powerful as a chef's knife, the processor is easy to use and fairly versatile. It works best on soft leaf herbs like basil, parsley, and cilantro, and can also be used to bruise rosemary or sage. The blade is sharp enough to chop garlic, shallots, and small amounts of onions, which minimizes lingering smells on your hands. Chef'n also includes a blunt paddle for peeling garlic, emulsifying dressings, and whipping eggs. Operated with simple hand power--no batteries or cords--the device is easy to tote from prep table to stove. It washes up in the top rack of the dishwasher, measures 4-1/2 by 4 by 2-3/4 inches, and comes with a simple set of starter recipes.
