This electric teakettle has worked well for us. It is quick and efficient. I particularly like the water gauge on the outside of the pot. The teakettle is heavy enough to make me feel secure when pouring, but not too heavy for my 72-year-old hands. The only criticism I have is that the lid does not always open when you depress the lever; sometimes I have to pry it open with my fingernail...not a good feature. This kettle is the best we've bought in years. It boils water quickly, shuts off fast and looks great on the kitchen counter. As it heats up it's a little noisy, but that helps give the alert when it's ready to boil. The "on" switch at its base which lights up is a bonus - you never have to worry whether you set it to go or not. Recommended!

the lid does not open far enough to make it a one-handed procedure when filling with water from the tap. Also, being stainless steel, you see every fingerprint on it.(Makes for frequent polishing!) As for heating speed, it boils a cup (8 oz) of cold water in less than a minute, faster than my microwave. This cordless electric kettle is wonderful! I use it to boil water for oatmeal, tea, sleep remedy of 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 tbsp honey combined in a cup of boiling water. Works great. It is so nice to have the auto shut off and the water stay hot for a long time. If you've ever noticed, every time you boil water in the microwave, it doesn't stay hot for long. With this cordless kettle, you can't go wrong - the water stays hot for a long time and you don't have to hear that annoying beeping sound every 1.5 minutes after it shuts off. Additionally, this cordless kettle does not emit radiation like microwaves do - so, it's healthier for you.
