Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chef's Choice 675 International Cordless Electric Hot Pot

Customer Review: Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

Ths is one of the best in electric kettles I have had.
Its cordless feature while pouring is very convenient, and it boils water quite fast. I would strongly recommend this kettle to anyone interested in purchasing an electric kettle.

Customer Review: FAST (and great boiled eggs too!)
Summary: 5 Stars

We've been using this now for a little over two months. Works as advertised: boils water faster than microwave or stove. Perfect for making French press coffee. With the wide opening lid also perfect for boiling eggs: Put the eggs in, add water, turn it on, five minutes after it turns off, take the eggs out and let cool at room temperature, and you have perfectly cooked (almost hard) boiled eggs. One of those things that once you have it, you kind of wonder how you did without it.

Customer Review: Gets the job done
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm buying for family since ours works so well. They love ours. Need water boiled fast and safely? This is it.

Customer Review: Great Product - Would Buy Again
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally bought this model because it was recommended by Alton Brown of the Food Network Show "Good Eats". I shopped around in the price range and decided to go ahead and buy it. It has worked great for us. I must say that I have never owned another electric kettle, so I don't have anything to compare to.

This unit heats up the water in a flash and the most important thing for me is the auto shut off. (I tend to forget that I turned the water on) Perhaps an audible ding would be nice to alert me that it was done and/or turning off.

We have hard water where we live and build up was a concern, but it cleans up like a dream. The wide mouth lid makes cleaning easy. Still looks brand new after 3 months.

I would buy it again.

Customer Review: Great electric kettle
Summary: 4 Stars

Saw this featured on Good Eats with Alton Brown. We were in the market for some kind of kettle to use with our Bodum french press since heating up water in a pot or in the microwave just didn't really work well. We love the idea of an open kettle that you can clean easily as we have hard water and if you leave water sitting in a conventional kettle on the stove, eventually the inside gets coated in mineral deposits and you can't really reach them well. This kettle is VERY fast to heat water (or Alton Brown says he'll heat clear broth too, but since the liquid goes into the water level meter thing, I'd be leary of doing anything too messy) and is very easy to clean.

The only weirdness is the cord hiding in the base. That, in itself, is kind of nice. But the way it coils around is a little odd and ours doesn't wrap in such a way that when it's fully unwound that it sits flat. The cord doesn't make it to the notch it exits when it's fully wrapped up. I might cut my own notch to match where it is when it's totally unwound.

Other than that, it's great. Fast hot water without a hot tap. Good stuff!
