Customer Review: A Great Addition to My Kitchen
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this item after reading "Gear for your kitchen by Alton Brown". The book gives great suggestions for what to look for in good quality and useful kitchen utensils and appliances; and this electric kettle is a good example. The kettle has a fairly large capacity at 1.5 quarts; which is plenty for my needs. I timed it to see how long it took to boil at max capacity and at just under 5 minutes, its definitely better than waiting for a pot on the stove.
The kettle is also very easy to clean since the lid opens wide enough to fit your whole hand in it. In the book Alton gives some unorthodox uses for this kettle such as boiling eggs and warming stock besides the obvious uses for coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. I'm basically a tea and hot cocoa guy however, I did try one of Alton's optional uses by boiling eggs in it. It only took 10 min. (5 to boil and 5 to wait) to have a perfectly boiled egg. I am already impressed with this purchase and if i find more optional uses it will only make this purchase a better value.
The only cons that this appliance may have is that its stainless steel and not plastic and that it doesn't have an audible timer. The former con is only due to accidental burns by kids, but since i don't have any and i prefer stainless for its durability and heat retaining quality vs plastic its not even a concern.
And the audible signal would just be a bonus for me since i do tend to forget things, but its not a worry since it stays hot for some time afterward anyway. This item will be one of my favorites (top 10) in the kitchen.

Customer Review: A Pot That Will Boil While You Watch It
Summary: 5 Stars

I make coffee three times a day and tea twice, Been heating water in a microwave, No comparison, The Chef's Choice 675 Cordless Hot Pot is faster and easier to use. Beautifully built with a wide mouth that allows easy cleaning of the smooth stainless steel interior. A simple but highly effective brightly illuminated control switch turns it on. When the water boils, the light goes out and the switch pops back to the off position, A large well desinged stay cool handle lets you easily lift the pot and deliver your boiling water where you need it.

The cordless pot sits on a round power base that allows the pot to swivel to any convenient position. You can also lift and set down in any position on the power base. No fddling just pick it up and plop it down.

It is the fastest and easiest way to get boiling water and it puts less heat into your kitchen than any other method..

Customer Review: A few quirks
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had this hotpot for at least 5 years. The chrome and black is attractive and it heats water very quickly. However, I have 2 problems with it:

1) When you try to pour, instead of coming out in a manageable stream, the water pours in the middle and dribbles on each side, creating a mess. I think it is caused by the interaction of the lid and the spout. I get around it by popping open the lid slightly before I pour, and that does the trick.

2) The auto-off feature stopped working reliably about a year ago. It will boil dry if I don't keep an eye on it. It still works sometimes, but when it does it will be at a full boil for a good 30 seconds before it shuts off.

Customer Review: A super Pot
Summary: 5 Stars

This has all the feature I wanted when I was looking for a electric pot to heat water for coffee. Its stainless steel so no plastic taste. Lid opens wide so its easy to fill and clean. No element inside the pot to interfere with cleaning the inside. It lifts off the base so that you can take it to the table. The large window shows the water level. This is our second one of this model. We had the first one for years until we broke it. The new one has a improved spout so that water pours out without spilling on the counter. I can't imagine someone buying any other model when this one has all the features you need for a heating water for coffee of tea..

Customer Review: Alton Brown likes it, and so do we
Summary: 5 Stars

When shopping for a gift for my husband, I read Alton Brown's website (he hosts the show Good Eats) and was impressed with the idea of owning a hot pot. We make hot water on the stove for hot tea and cocoa frequently during the winter, and iced tea during the summer. This hot pot is superior to heating water in a kettle on the stove. It's one appliance that will stay on the counter, it gets used so often!
