Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chaney Instrument 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer Alarm SetCustomer Review: Easier to set-up than other reviewers stated. Summary: 4 Stars
I inserted the batteries (and the type batteries) as instructed and it has functioned as claimed. I have only had the item for 3 weeks and the freezer is directly below the kitchen on the lower level of our home and that makes distance from the transmitters very close and it has worked great.
Customer Review: Eats Batterys like candy Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this to keep an eye on my deep freeze in the garage. It is on a GFI outlet because the Wise Ones make all external outlets part of a GFI circuit. Sometimes the GFI pops and I really want to know that the deep freeze is still cycling.
I put Duracell's in the receiver. Lithium's went in the transmitters like they suggested. The device had to be reset many times and then after about 3 weeks all the batteries died. Well, I tried another set hoping that it was just a weak set. Silly me. Same thing. After about 3 weeks and a few resets by popping out the batteries resulted in dead batteries, again. I give up. The range on the refrigerator was fine - it was stuck to the refrigerator door. The deep freeze was about 10 feet away through the wall. When the batteries were in tip top shape it worked. I don't think I will try another set of batteries. I'm giving this two stars instead of one because it did work, for a while.
Customer Review: Failed within days Summary: 1 Stars
Complete failure. Initially both sensors connected with the base unit, then one failed completely. Running on the second sensor which failed soon there after. (both units within 3 ft of base station so no issues with wireless range.) Numerous resets and battery swaps (lithiums) failed to recover.
Amazon should pull this product for very poor quality

Customer Review: Frig/Freezer thermometer Summary: 5 Stars
I have always wanted a device to keep track of the temperature of our stored food and this does the trick. Everyone should have one.
