No darn good. On three attempts it caused me to way overcook the meat. Just doesn't register correct temperatures, the minimum performance we expect out of a thermometer.I threw it away.

So simple to use--just push the button to turn this digital thermometer on, insert the 5-inch stainless-steel probe into any food hot or cold, and in no time an accurate reading appears to one-tenth of one degree, in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The LED display registers temperatures ranging from -40 to 302 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 150 degrees Celsius), making the thermometer useful for testing everything from hard ice cream for Baked Alaska to a large roast. A single push-button makes operation easy--push and hold to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius, push to activate the data-hold mode (which locks a reading in place), and push again to turn off.
Since the thermometer head is not oven-proof, the device should not be left in foods during cooking; however, the head is waterproof and repels steam, humidity, and spills. The protective sheath for the thermometer features a pocket clip and loop to conveniently hold the probe, and lists various types of meats along with the USDA recommended internal temperature for each. Clean the thermometer carefully by hand to avoid immersing the head in water. The thermometer comes with an extra battery and a five-year warranty against defects.--Ann Bieri
